Thank you for this. My husband and I spent many vacations in the Rockies, from the Tetons and up into the Canadian Rockies. As an artist, I have yet to capture the peculiar shade of pale blue-green of those glacier fed lakes.
I really needed this today, I am leaving the news behind for the rest of the day because I'm too disgusted to see one more awful thing. I'm glad I can leave with Denali in my mind instead.
You’re an inspiration! My newly wed daughter landed in Athens last night. Friends arrived in French Polynesia. Time to leave this nonsense behind for a bit. Today I will make a decision, and make a plan. Rocks and trees and water. Hm.
ICTT Thank you for pointing your piece out. Brings back good memories of even 10 years ago, a time that feels it’s flown by. By far the most welcoming people those gosh darn Canadians friends.. Again, thank you for sharing..
O Canada! As Canada’s #1 neighbor (Minnesota), I have said many times that Canada is like Minnesota-Nice, only nicer. I would have loved to do the same trip you describe, but I waited too long. Moving to Canada would be lovely but it’s also Minnesota Cold, only colder.
When we lived in Anchorage, it was a real treat on exceptionally clear days, to be able to see Denali. First time was an “oh my god” moment. Wandering around its foothills on a clear day is a must, when the opportunity presents itself.
Since then, whenever someone expresses an interest in Alaska, I urge them to go.
Of course, I lived there in the early 90s. Now it might be carpeted with shoddy, overpriced subdivisions.

Just lovely! So glad for you and your partner, and the respite of such incredible beauty.
My husband spent two summers working in Southeast Alaska many years ago, and if we are able, we hope to travel by ferry up the Inside Passage.

Denali Park has traffic lights on the highway now.
NOPE
Wonderful. Thank you.
I felt calmer just seeing the picture and headline. Lovely!
Mountains are female.
Thank you for your excellent description of the place my uncle Arleigh took refuge near after fleeing humanity post WWII.
Thank you. In Alaska, Denali is male -- an exception to the rule.
